I am reading a new book about working with spirt and ancestors in particular, and I am reminded of the give and take relationship with Spirit. It’s one I take for granted, at times and maybe you do too. Just like you wouldn’t keep a friend for too long if you only asked for things and never offered anything yourself, a relationship with spirit can be the same way. Your spirit guides - the team of support that contracted or agreed to be with you during this lifetime to guide you, they will always be there for you, whether you are selfish in that relationship or not, but that is not true of all spirit support that we have access to.
Other types of guides and teachers are ancestors, animal spirit guides, runners and other spirits and elementals who may step in when called to help you resolve a problem, they don’t have the same contract with you that your spirit guide team has. They don’t need to help you, but have decided to do so. Let’s be sure use our manners and have gratitude for the help we receive from these entities as well.
You can also make them an offering to show gratitude. You can leave some fruit or veggies in nature somewhere to say thank you. You can leave a coin somewhere outside as an offering. You can even set up an altar and send them blessings.
This is another DIYW (do it your way) sort of practice. Whatever you feel called to do and feels significant to you is the perfect way.
