I think I have mentioned that one of the reasons for the bad rap magic gets is because it leaves room for people to behave unethically. I happen to believe that it is not possible for me or anyone to hurt someone using magic - at least not the everyday variety we are talking about here. I suppose there may be something in other magical practices that I have not experienced. I just think that given my propensity for telling the truth in a way that isn’t sugar coated and, perhaps, a bit brusque, that if it were possible to harm me with magic someone would have done it by now. And, that isn’t the case. I am open to being wrong though, which is why we will talk about practicing our magic ethically.
The main rule for ethical magic practice is to stay aligned with the Divine to shape conditions according to highest and truest good for all.
Wanting to practice any other way means you are caught up in your ego. Your ego is the illusion that we are all disconnected (I separate the ego from the mind. They’re different beasts). Some egoic desires are to change or manipulate other people, to have power over someone (even if that person is an abuser), and to get a specific job or a specific person. And, my favorite egoic desire: proving to other people how powerful you are. I fall prey to this one when I get caught up in other people’s stories about me.
I feel like this a great place to take a moment and remind people that I am a human person and I fall into illusions of separation and disempowerment, just like everyone else. One of my big trip ups are the stories that a certain handful of people tell about me. My objective in this newsletter and my other work online is not to give you the illusion that I am perfect, have it all figured out and if you just follow me, you too will have a magical life. No. My life is messy - internally and externally. I share all of that fairly openly and in the moment. That’s what being authentic looks like and feels like for me. And, I will continue doing that until it doesn’t feel good anymore.
I am taking my power back from these people and their stories, but that process is not a one-and-done process. It is a practice. I make this side note to remind you that I am human and to remind you that YOU are human and you will have egoic desires and illusions. That’s part of the game here and it is appropriate to talk about it, if you feel so inclined. I also want to remind you that none of this work we are meant to do on earth is a one-and-done process. We don’t travel a linear line back and forth - the path is a coil and we will revisit old lessons over and over from higher perspectives until they work their way out of our energetic field.
So, if ego desires are not authentic, what do authentic desires look like? The desire to change your life experience and live more in alignment with your highest and best; the desire to step into your own personal power and remove any power people have over you; to live an abundant life of your own creation; to attract the people who are perfect for you. This is where your manifesting and magical powers lie.
And, this is how I want you to approach your magic. Create from authentic, soul-level desires. Set the intention to live in alignment with your best and highest and understand that you will rarely know what that is, which is why we leave the details to the Divine.
