Fun People I Follow - Lorraine Anderson
I had this post planned before I shared my post about Mandi Em’s work, but I felt some urgency to share her discount code for her confidence program (which I have registered for and am diving into. It’s really good). So, now I am really excited to share Lorraine Anderson’s work. It’s a good thing too that I waited because now I can talk about her membership - I wasn’t a member when I had originally planned this post.
I will bet you haven’t heard of Lorraine Anderson. I first found her through her second Seasons of the Witch Oracle deck, the Yule oracle. It was an Amazon suggestion one day in my account. I tried to get a friend to buy the oracle deck and review it for me, but I am not sure she ever did buy it, so I bought it myself Lorraine and her creative partner, Juliet Diaz, have been making an oracle deck for each sabbat. I have 4 of them so far and she has released 7. There is one more, I believe, to be released and the series will be complete. Ostara is set to be released in February of 2025. I want all of them. So, far I have Mabon, Yule, Samhain and Litha.
After buying her first oracle deck, I looked her up on Amazon and found her book called The Witch’s Apothecary. I liked it. She has information and rituals for all the seasons and holidays in it. It has a very cozy feeling to it.
As much as I like her Seasons of the Witch oracle decks, my favorite right now for daily card pulls is the Witching Hour Oracle.
I find it has the right language to fit the circumstances of my everyday life and works well for my daily card pulls.
One thing I find with her cards is that they are really good at making me take a step back and think about the card message without all of the exposition. Some of the cards are very specific in their interpretations. For example, the card I pulled today was from the Mabon deck and it was about the fall of darkness. It talked about getting defensive and owning up to mistakes. It was the theme card of the day, but rather than take the interpretation literally, I had to remind myself of the question I asked when I pulled the card - what is a theme I will encounter or experience today. If you look at the interpretation in the future position, your mind could really run away with you and predict (and then create) a terrible day. Instead, what I have noticed is when other people are experiencing a need to be defensive. So, these are great decks to use, but you do need to keep in mind the overall message in the card and not the specific examples she writes about. They are not meant for literal predictions. Don’t let your mind run away with you.
I joined her membership recently as well. It is sort of like an expanded and live version of her book. I like it. The visuals she uses are gorgeous. I don’t know if they are stock photos or if she is into photography, but the posts are visually stunning. It has me thinking I need to kick up my game over here! She shares recipes for drinks and beauty products. She shares tips for witchy living and rituals. Lots of information and all beautifully curated. Well worth the money! You can find her website here and her Instagram profile here.
I highly recommend her work. She also has a new book coming out in October all about Moon Magic.
